Another tough week at work but progress is always welcome and makes you feel accomplished although also mentally drained at the end of the day. And in the blink of an eye, I'm halfway through my assignment.
Another Friday, another night of drinks which is always fun... except that I'd planned to take the road lesser traveled and went for a hike on Saturday starting at 7 am... it was a 2.5 hour journey from downtown Tokyo and although it was tough and tiring and slow during the morning, the views and fresh air were so worth it.
I went to the Chiba Prefecture and visited Nokogiri-Yama... a stairway to the largest handcarved stone Buddha in Japan standing at over 31 metres. A lot bigger than the one at Nara and Kamakura. Not only did I get to see some amazing pieces of history but the views from the top of the mountain were incredible and I only wish it was a slightly clearer day... the views stretch all the way to Mt Fuji!
By the afternoon, I'd had a little picnic lunch of onigiri, crackers and water and was ready to climb back up the endless stairs to the ropeway. Tough but rewarding and I have to admit it was one of the best hangover cures.
A tiny but of shopping back at Chiba station before taking another train home. Amazing amazing day and so glad I went on Saturday as the weather was shocking on Sunday (extremely strong winds at up to 120 km/hr) which led me to Odaiba... one of my favourite areas to shop! A big mix of tourists and locals but so many of my go-to shops all in the one location... can't go wrong!
