Take two days off, come back to 2 weeks work. Yep, that's normal.
And Melbourne or Sydney has nothing on Tasmania. 4 seasons in a day literally - snow, ice, hail, sleet, sun, rain, wind, clouds.
Oysters were delectable and I had lots along with salmon, trevally, abalone, pipis, mussels... nomnomnom. But my favourite was the scallop pies.
Drove from Hobart to Port Arthur to Freycinet to Bay of Fires to Launceston. Easy drives mostly but the snow and ice on the road whilst driving through sleet is pretty nerve-wracking.
My favourite was walking up to Wineglass Bay Lookout. Stunning yes, but it's got nothing on Hawaii. I know I know, such a snob. But it's just missing something... that only time can give it. It's like the difference between a fine bottle of wine and your everyday bottles. Sometimes, it just needs more culture and history to make it that little bit more exciting.
I can only imagine that the Lavender farm would be absolutely stunning in Summer considering it is so beautiful in Winter. I have now been to three lavender farms in my life and I can positively say that this Tasmanian privately owned farm (the largest in the world) is very beautiful. 200 full hectares of lavender flowers. Wow. I like lavender a little more now - though not much, the smell is still so pungent.
There's a lot of roadkill - probably an animal every 1 or 2 kms. And there was a roo so large on one of the roads that we had to swerve to avoid it. Dangerous...
On the list to visit again in Summer, it would be so much more lively.
