I got paid today and probably for the first time since I have been working full time (which is a rather embarrassing admission) have I made a conscious effort of minimizing my expenses... And what a difference it makes!
I mean on all the credit card statements it was always always just a number... And u transfer the balance of that number at the end of every month. No big deal right?? I was so wrong.
It makes a difference - a massive difference - when you're trying to save for a deposit. And all of a sudden I have a spare few hundred in my bank account. I can't believe how easy it was to spend every other time without giving it much of a second thought... Yet it is so hard to make a conscious effort to save. So all those budget calculators and expenses diaries work because every little bit counts and all those little $2 or $3 expenses easily add up to $20 ... or $50.
I'm even thinking about getting rid of the second credit card. Can't say it's been an easy lesson but definitely worth it. Makes you think about where all the ka-Ching is going and why. Up until this date I thought i was doing pretty well savings wise but now I know it can b better :)

was just discussing with kels the goods and the bads and what happens within the team after hours today.
this is not looking good for next week. it is supposed to be warm and sunny with beautiful rays of sunshine on the weekends so that we can go to floraide and/or palm beach!!! what's happening to the weather?? why so nice on the weekdays, make those of us in an office envious, and then bring out the wind, rain and cold on the two days that are WEEKENDS!?!?
so in other not-so-exciting news, we bought a new coffee machine. i'm in love with it and i am seriously contemplating inviting guests over just so they can experience its awesomeness. i don't even need to buy coffee in the mornings anymore. and it is so ironic, that there is literally a new espresso bar around the corner from me (completely random location, don't know how they are going to survive) - and i don't even really want to try it out! yikes!
had a lovely little catch-up dinner with the old girls last sunday night at the hard rock cafe. they really do know how to differentiate their services - not so much their products (as i would categorise this in the Hog's Breath, Blackbird or even Tony Roma's category) but their waiters and waitresses certainly do stand out. accent and all. but it made for some good times. my only wish was that it wasn't on a sunday night but oh wells.
i also have been doing a little baking in between, made some yummy cupcakes. please go to wynwyns place to check it out ;)

netball started with a win and we played in beautiful albeit HOT sunny weather!!! :):):) go our all girls team! (in a mixed comp... whoo!)

i was literally strolling, yes s-t-r-o-l-l-i-n-g into work this morning. like expected to wait for the lift cause i could see people in front of me so i took my time... wasn't in a hurry... and i get to the bank of lifts and this guy's like holding the door open for me. i was like.. aw... that's such a nice gesture. *beams* so random yet so lovely.
and i was still the first of my bank of desks to get to work. something occurring more often these days. hm, actually, i think i arrive first most days.
anyhoo, another funny thing.. and this happened as i was on the phone to this new contractor. cause i thought she didnt submit her super forms. so she called me and was like... yeah i am pretty sure i posted them back to you...
so i put her on hold and i ask the girls and kel's like
"yeah, i binned them forms ages ago because they weren't signed. here i'll show you" and she diggs it out of the bin, ripped and all. and low and behold...
the first two are blank... and the third, on the back was signed!!
HAHAHAHA omg we all cracked up sooooo bad and i had to talk to the poor girl who was on the phone and make up some lame ass excuse. lololol. gold!!!
and i had the loveliest lunch hour with anna yesterday. we sat in the sun at hyde park. bliss!!! if only for one hour of one very epic day! :)

went to joyce's for some boardgames fun and supposed lunch. but they were eating strawberries and pizza so i couldn't have any. i did have an earl grey though - with lemon. the games were pretty good. even when joyce was on my team =P
and then came home and played kitchen queen with janice and dons. that basically meant offering all the leftovers from the bbq to them. hahahahaha it was good too.
lovely day. would love more of these in the future :)
