Weekend away in the tropics

For the second time in a row, Wendie didn't get to go. Haha . . . guess it was all bad (good?) timing! Spent the long weekend up in Cairns to RnR, visit family friends and pretend to be an only child for a few days. It was pretty good!
Cairns, Palm Cove, Port Douglas - I love your lifestyle however I am a city girl at heart. There are no jobs and it is pretty expensive in the tropics and not much choice! Cheap houses though...
Wasn't your average international tourist however did do the local touristy things like dine on the jetty, drive to port douglas, eat by the waterside, walk along the beach, watch people hang-glide. None of the great barrier reef, cruise or skyrail stuff though. Maybe next time, when we get a couple of more days, we will have some more time to explore and do the touristy things.
Great to catch up with Liane and Mary as always. It's always good to see them happy and healthy! and CoCo too (the sookiest dog I have ever met!).
Had some awesome seafood (and was on a "see food" diet... lol). And love their tropical salads, salsas and fruits in general. Freshly juiced pineapple, orange and passionfruit juice daily. mmmm.
Had time to bake, read, watch Red Dog, play with the chickens, collect a couple of eggs, nap at their house. Yep, its pretty much my home away from home in FNQ!
Wish Michael was still living in Cairns to take me to the Barron for some kayaking though!!! Oh wells...
