fuchsia fragments

It's that feeling again. Where for a few nights (like...2) this week I have had nothing to do. Nothing to watch. No work to catch up on. No admin. No paperwork. No friends...

And I think to myself... wouldn't it be fun to do another course? Or a degree? Or something more useful with my time rather than just waiting for bedtime (or so it feels like)? Isn't a goal in like to absorb as much knowledge as you can? The last time this happened, I was looking at the Sydney Universities and looking up a Masters in Law. And I had even checked when the next enrollments would be and what was required. . .

Let's hope this is another phase. Like the electric piano one. Lol.

It's been a few months coming, and can't really say it was something that I was really looking forward to doing. Especially when it meant I had to get up as early as a weekday and travel to Ultimo for a TAFE course. One that I had initially enrolled to do online but was told that it didn't meet NSW Authority requirements unfortunately... a little surprised that the class size was limited to 15. Since it was a theory-based class, thought they'd easily accommodate more (and therefore, I could have done this in the August class instead since that was full). The instructor was quite funny - but I think a lot of the people didn't get her rather awkward jokes. But it made the day a little more bearable.

What was horrible was that there were no trains and I hadn't even thought about driving. MISTAKE! It was fine in the morning since no one goes to the city at 7:30 a.m. on a Saturday but it was horrible in the afternoon. It was warm as well so people stunk. There were a lot of people at Central waiting for a bus and it was literally like the end of the world the way people were pushing and shoving against each other. I ended up having to stand the whole way and the guy in front of me reeked. :-( There wasn't any aircon and the windows were all sealed so it was really really painful.

That pretty much sucked my energy for the day (kudos to the single origin roaster coffee from Mecca across the road from TAFE in the morning). Although the cuppa was more than my daily $3 and it wasn't as good, it made my day. So did Donna and the picture of her holding a Giant Whisk looking thing the way King Triton held his trident.



Had always wanted to do a bit of personal baking this weekend. Today was the perfect day for it. . . have been asked by colleagues to make a cake which, despite its name, is actually from France. Japonaise Cake. Basically layers of meringue with light and fluffy coffee buttercream layers and finished off with toasted flaked almonds. Its actually quite fiddly and time consuming but it comes up really yummy. I think my meringue layers are still super crunchy so hopefully they'll soften up a little to become more chewy before people taste-test!

I also have for the longest time wanted to make melting moments but by piping them through a bag rather than just rolling and squishing. They look infinitely better piped! Mine were probably on the edge of over-golden but I think the thickness was perfect, not too thick and not too thin. Made Passionfruit with a hint of Lemon Buttercream to sandwich them together. And I even put a few on them in a nice box for gifts. :)

The next time I have an afternoon free (maybe next next time since I need to really think about doing my tax return now...), I'm gonna have a crack at making Salted Caramel Banoffee Pie... FROM SCRATCH. Like I do everything else. But who will eat it?

And then i can get massively drunk!

Team drinks/dinner on Friday turned out to be pretty damn awesome. Probs cause the person we all hate left at 7... =D

My current pattern of study:

1 hour study / 2 hour break

could have been life changing.

i'm not yet kicking myself up the butt but have i let an opportunity pass me by?!?!! guess we will have to wait and see.

for a short week, it was epicly hard work. :(

another person left and heaps of stuff piling up and up and up.

this weather is supposed to be study weather and what happens?

i get a stomach bug.

For the past few weekends, it has been pretty hectic catching up with people and lunches and dinners etc and i have been hanging on for a quiet weekend.

and now that i have that one quiet weekend, i want to go out!!!

why why why???

it's not like i don't have anything to do at home. the list is growing by the minute...

i am pretty sure it all comes down to procrastination. since it is time to get serious about tax, it is also the perfect opportunity for me to use any excuse i can not to sit down and hit the books. damn it!

But not so many interesting things have happened!

study. bake. gym. work. sleep.

that has pretty much been my life for the past 2 or 3 weeks...

But that's not to say there's absolutely nothing to report...

another work day, another resignation. lol i think thats 5 in the last 3 months?

and if i fail my last module, its because of Cake Boss!

hard to get to... no scenery... no free parking... transport nightmare... nothing.

and i also dislike afternoon exams. such a waste of a day... even if it means you get to study in the morning (i didn't really........). Rather get them over with.

One more on Thursday... and then get to go back to work (haha, can you believe, i am actually kind of looking forward to it!!!!!!!)

i've only had a day and a bit of study leave and i'm bored already :(

i think i (kind of) miss work?!

but love sitting in my chair with the sun on my back..... and nodding off. HAHA

going out tonight to celebrate a little with the target girls on amanda's engagement :) :) :)

then i will get back to more studying.......

deliberately  - and i mean - made a huge effort - to have absolutely no plans this weekend. to study.

it's like an alien word. my brain doesn't know how to process it but procrastination seems to come effortlessly, as though it were second-nature.

i made a pretty good attempt yesterday (barr the sleeping in). didn't go anywhere, didn't download that much stuff to watch, didn't surf the net for too long, didn't spend a lot of time of facebook, youtube, etc.

just the hour... or two on ebay. got an early night. as you would when you study. right?!

today however...

still attempting - the books are open, the highlighters are all lined up, the post its are ready and even my notes are printed and ordered. its just a matter of using all of these things in a productive manner . . . . . .

sidetracked by the MUM - myer. review. skirt. cue. sale. etc.

but even then it wasn't that long.

and the afternoon... seemed to slip through. movie. net. nothing. just ... tick tock.

nessie, walk, absorbing vitamin D, checking live netball score.

problematic!

feels a little strange to be home on a wednesday. i feel like my routine has been disrupted. went to the gym later - so all the people were unfamiliar... like i was walking into a completely different gym altogether.

then i didnt have my usual breakfast of one boiled egg. i had raisin toast instead and tea.

probs be drinking like 10 cups of tea to make up for my usual coffee too. bwahaha

just calorie counted easter eggs. the results are shocking.

i have so many things i want to do post exam. . . :-)

clean the fish tank is on the top!

and possibly going to DFO.

and if my rents go on a holiday in june, i want to have a boardgame and pizza sleepover (make ur own pizze of course, not order) with pancakes and waffles for a breakfast hangover. =D

also really excited about the netball game on sunday.

not so much going back to work on monday. my emails have been forwarded to someone else (not someone i trust and who will prob not even bother doing most of my stuff) so i wont even know what has happened... (i dont entirely agree with email forwarding. i think the GE way of delegating is much more useful because there is an email trail of what ppl have looked at and done for you... and it all stays in your inbox to file).

i will be really stressed on monday because it is also payroll week. i am putting money on the fact that a number of timesheets will be lost because of this email forwarding.

but that's something to think about later.
