Friday night BBQ with the parents. Outdoor setting. Fresh Salad. Prawns. White Wine. Meat and Adorable Dogs. I love my life.

Almost there, almost there... but what is it this year that I am looking/waiting/wishing for?

I'm am unsure myself...

It did feel like a holiday weekend just past despite having work this morning (and tomorrow!).

Caught up with Amanda and Janice for some pancakes, and then came home to prepare for a BBQ FEAST with the extended family. I can't ever recall being so buggered from a family event but kids have limitless amounts of energy that it's kind of scary.

Hilarious to see them falling on their bums cause they can't pull the christmas crackers on their own and the smiles of their faces when they opened their christmas presents... even if baby justin opened his 5th Thomas for the year. HAHAHA!

Loved roasting marshmallows over a real coal fire. And even took part for a bit in the good old fashion (albeit very slow) HK-style BBQ. Was fun. But i like the Aussie one more - especially when I don't have to cook it. But chicken wings and fish balls don't taste the same unless you do it yourself and slather on that honey just prior to eating. nomnomnom.

Got some much needed RnR on sunday by dragging ms Li with me to the beach. After having a late lunch (and a little pricey) ... 'fisherman's basket'. Have to admit, it was quite crispy and tasty. But needed salad.

Stayed at La Perouse for a couple of hours. I think I got a tan. Still deciding...

Then went home. Ate leftovers for dinner and literally went to sleep straight after. I have no idea what happened. But i was like... Okay. It's hot, the air con is on, I will just lie down for a bit. And zzz... fell asleep and got up the next day. Wholla!

where'd the weekend go?!

Lovely lovely saturday.

a mini stgghs reunion at bicentennial park for mandy's birthday. lots of sun and not too much wind although it did get fresh as the afternoon went by.

highlights:
- taking 2 hours to get the hot coals going to cook the food
- donna and i hiking around the grass and finding no waterhole
- not being allowed to go to the bathroom because cake time was in 5 minutes... turned out to be in 20
- wanting to roll down the grassy hill
- parking mine and cherry's car in one and a half spaces. completely boxed myself in!
- really bad coffee from the cafe
- seeing green and not recognising nature...
- being epicly asian and squatting, washing our hands with spring water, scrubbing the bbq with leaves ?!

after we said goodbye, donna and i had planned to go out for dinner. cherry and vivian decided to join so it became a 3-car tag into the city. i am an awesome anchor driver (not my usual place and i'm usually the one in front!)

apparently had my bitchface on. so donna said as she looked at me in the rear view mirror.

anyway, did the two a massive favour since traffic was pretty heavy and me having the balls to cut lanes and let them through and stop all the cars behind us. hahahahaha female asian drivers FTW! (although i still stand by the fact that i am not that much of an asian driver)

we ended up at surry hills:
- cocktails and pork belly meat balls at Mr. Fox. yummmmmmmy and they gave us free popcorn so we stayed a little longer (ok, i lie, we just stayed).
- took some fail instax [cherry]
- and then cherry left
- visited the new kurtosh which is famous for a hungarian style chimney cake. really really good coffee. and they sell their slabs of cakes by weight. interesting concept and i loved the ambience. i even took photos because i want my cafe to one day be similar to this!!!
- stayed there until donna had to go pick up her dad
- came home, was pretty tired...

we decided to plan more events as some will see from fb! good times coming up. <3 p="p">
i made choc chip cookies today. zero effort.

and then procrastinated the rest of my afternoon away thinking about business cards and website designs. wish it was just all done for me...

and then sister got me addicted to the show Cake Boss.

where/when am i supposed to find the time to study?!

started out as a pretty well planned day which turned random but epicly awesome.

mandy's little get together for her birthday at bicentennial park today followed by randon 3 car tag along to surry hills for cocktails, meatballs and kurtosh.

will post details after i get some shut eye.

so much to plan for the upcoming months!

did some of my favourite things today :)

baked a (pretty fail) cheesecake.

prepared for a bbq (that i didnt get to participate in)

went to joyce's for some boardgames fun and supposed lunch. but they were eating strawberries and pizza so i couldn't have any. i did have an earl grey though - with lemon.  the games were pretty good. even when joyce was on my team =P

and then came home and played kitchen queen with janice and dons. that basically meant offering all the leftovers from the bbq to them. hahahahaha it was good too.

lovely day. would love more of these in the future :)

slept in till 8-ish.

did a 15 minute coles run. made waffle and scones for breakfast. and used my new english tea set. fabulous.

washed the cars. took my dogs out for a run. picked up sticks. made a fire. had a bbq. let my chickens out. spent some glorious time in the sun. somehow got a rash on the back of my hands.

bbq-ed food for my dogs. =D

cut my caramel slice. perfecto.
made my mini cheesecakes. so petit four-ish.

played mahjong. won some money. enough for my transport this week. =D

had some congee and turnip cake.

head-to-toe shower.

tired as.

5 am. let's do it again.

Friday was a pretty normal day. at least, it was supposed to be normal.

work as usual. but we were going to go to grandmas place straight from waterloo. and we went via sydenham. at the station intersection, there were cop cars, police resue, ambos and fire trucks.

and my guess was right.

fatality.

our detour was in vain anyway since no one was home. =( thats so rare i was a bit cut. haha jks. but definetely rare that no one is home.

went home to make pretty cupcakes for cake day and our family bbq. i made the bestest buttercream. it was so smooth and fluffy and just pwned the one i made for my bday. =)


saturday.

work. asked to stay back. had to say no for the second week in a row. at least they found a replacement. came home for a kiddy bbq. god bro and other family relatives under the age of 16. was fun. loved the summer feel. sitting outside with the sun. i almost felt a bit sunburnt.

then i had to head out to the city. to pick up my bracelet and buy a new charm. they made my decision so much easier when they only had one of the two charms i wanted in stock. the cheaper one too. =D. and instant, no soldering needed. WYNNER!!!

after that, donna and i went to pitt street mall for a much needed juice. then went to myer to get cheap clothes @ 75% off. one dress. one singlet top. one knitted cardigan.

was looking at shoes when the coz calls and says he only just got home. i was like.. R U SERIOUS!? and after a long deliberation, we decided to go bondi via the graniph store. where we picked out two cool t-shirts for a frend of the coz's. even had to do his shopping for him. pfft.

we got to bondi perfect timing.. where justin walked right past us. and didn't stop until donna said

'wai, leng jai!'

at which he turned around instantly O_O

LOL.

coraline in 3D. pretty pictures. boring movie. bit long. began to feel like a lightbulb *refer to picture*

went to gori sushi bar after. where i ate and they chatted. (more lightbulbish moments). called valerie. asked about japan. she sounded like she was extremely busy. ate some more expensive sushi.

then walked next door to max brenner to fatten up even more. mm waffles and chocolate crunch pizza. so good. but so stuffed.

and in the car. i wanted to shrink in a corner and fall asleep. justin offered to take donna home. lol and on our way back, silverwater road was closed. HAHAHA like BULL!!! so we had to detour. funny. got home and crashed.

sunday
mayo txts at 9:20 asking for a lift to work. lol. and "preferably get there with enough time to go to maccas". we went to muffin break. 3 hours of work. went by pretty quick. then went to dan murphys for alcohol. and drove to harrys housewarming.

where i kicked mayo at wii bowling to his disbelief. (actually, we ended up tied). =D
where valerie didn't show up =(
where i had to listen to an ex-st-georgian bitch about my best frend (in the same sentence as rebecca l.i. WTF).
where they had barcadi 151 shots which is (78% alcohol)

"don't worry about washing the shot glasses properly, the alcohol will sterilise it"

where we stayed from arvo to night.

dropped mayo home. i come home and the kitchens like a mess. mums making turnip cake. had a power trip (stupid food processor). yelling across room to monkey. tired. smiles at all the money ebay items are making. =D

apart from the fact that she was pretty disorganised and this was absolutely, totally last minute - as in - this morning at work:

"hey, do u wanna come over and have a bbq at my place tonight? We can go shopping during my lunch break."

it was really good fun. =D

small group. cozy i suppose. we had 7 people at one stage. hahaha.

so i pretty much cooked all afternoon.
potato salad.
pasta salad which was the bomb.
fruit flan which was like - normal for me - amazing for them. i don't think they realise the extent of my baking skills... yet. hahahaha.

it was really good that steph and clads came. clads in her crutches. hope she can get off them for her trip down to callala beach. (wish i could go too...)

and it took us so long to get the fire started. so the boys just dumped like half a packet of the white fuel thingys - easy lites - and the whole thing practically burst into flames. LOL. got the whole apartment block smokey.

they called it

"payback at the neighbours"

so i think next time, i want the bbq to be at my place. =D altho that might not happen until my birthday. but thats okay. cause there are so many birthdays, 21st especially, until then. :)

tomorrow is my last shift. i am SO happy about it.

The Booze Tub

christmas day was like quiet family day.

bbq. with expensive waggyu meat.

and boxing day was hectic work.

and bbq, oh the bbq!!!

hahahahahahaha

we all got sooooo trashed. like throwing up trashed.
that's what happens when u have a tumbler of cosmos. like 3 cosmos in one go. and half the cocktail was vodka.
and claudia ended up in hospital: because she was wrestling.
and we trashed steph's lawn.
and - LOL - "christened" her bed
and one of the boys threw up in a neighbour's lawn
and we had clothes taken off...

i think i'll leave it at that for now.
