My sister and I are such Sunday slackers. We pretty much sleep in till as late as we can or until we absolutely have to get up. Or there's something on, or there's something to do. Worse so now that its cool in the mornings. Till to pull out the uggies and long boots.
Just like today... got up at 10:15 as we had a booking at Gunner's Barracks at 11:30. Got there right on time for our Tea lunch which was enjoyable but nothing special. The view from the terrace is quite spectacular but not Wedding Reception material IMHO.
Typical Tea items... sandwiches, scones, petite cakes. The highlight was actually the Apple & Cinnamon Macaron. It wasn't overly sweet though could tell that the shell was quite aged and a little bumpy but the filler was so refreshing.
I picked up a Gold Zoo Pass from work this week since we were in Mosman and made the most of the free 90 minute parking for a short walk around the zoo. We were blessed to see these beautiful lions lazing around their mantle. So chill. Sometimes I wish I had a big cat as a pet... its the whole protection thing... I am one insecure person.
Also saw the giraffes, the orangutans playing and the Seal show. Haven't seen seals in a while so thoroughly enjoyed that! And glad we sat in the middle and not the front so didn't get soaked.
Took the cable car back to the main entrance and got out with a few minutes to spare. Our timing was impeccable. Its like the shorter and less hectic version of the cable car in Ocean Park.
And... to finish the day off, Mum got a spit roaster - one that turns automatically - for her birthday and we put it to good use with a leg of lamb. Maxxie was right beside it the whole time wanting a piece of the action. Cutie pie.
I am mesmerized by fire and it was so warming and the lamb was so good. Done in just over an hour. Wish we had some marshmallows!
I love my family and family outings. An awesome day.
