fuchsia fragments

Been spending small amounts of time this past week after dinner in front of the telly with the fambam. And most nights, MKR was on. And in one of the elimination challenges, they made what they called Bomboloni - a kind of Italian donut. Their recipe had ricotta which made them more zeppole but no one on the show bothered to correct the girls.

So out of interest, I wanted to make Bomboloni one night since we have so many people over for dinner and so wouldn't go to waist or waste. I found a recipe and they were delicious! Sugar coated, lemony balls of dough, puffed and fried. Yes, Churros are way easier but these are delicious in their own little way especially when they're still hot. Crispy coating, sugar melting and pillowy soft on the inside. It can be a pretty good comfort food. Will have to add this one of to the list of dinner party items.

Makes me dream of having my own house, with my own kitchen and outdoor entertaining area. Then I remember the cost of living and housing and how unattainable it can all be. Work play... eat!

yum cha with grandma - that me and juzzi and steph shouted. . . so we tried to eat loads and make up for it. hehehe. pretty cool.

my lil nephew is sooooooooo cute. he has a "driver's license" and he knows what to do when he gets "stopped by the cops". hahaha should have videoed it.

then decided to pick a fight with VHA for wendeh. $50 credit... hrmmm.. for about 3 hours of my time... i'll take it! better than nuttin

and then it was going to be a pretty boring, ordinary night...

except that mum was random. and like.. lets go out for siew yeh... @ chat thai!!!

whoop whoop.

so we went out at like 9:30.. and drove to the city. and got this awesome spot right outside capitol theatre and didnt even wait that long for chat thai.

had coconut ice cream and those pandan bread thingys and iced coffee and skewers. mmmmmmmmmm goood.

left just as mary poppins was finishing... oooh i know that feeling when those people walked out of the theatre!!! looks like it was a full house.

then drove home... pretty quick getting to and back from city tonight. about 20 mins each way which makes the trip well worth it.

had the fattest on top of fattest days to end the week. i want to strangle someone.

we had dinner at bevo last night cause cousin was back from hk for a few weeks. so got shouted dinner. lobster. fish. the usual chinese restaurant foods.

and justins like HEY! lets got to D2D's for dessert after.. as if i wasn't already full enough from dinner.

dinner was quite the let down. food took forever. we started at 6:30 and didnt get out until like 9:15. it was like literally 1 course per hour for the first two hours and then all of a sudden, they come in droves. and food wasn't that good.

so we went to D2Ds.

and him and monkey got iced chocolates rated 20 out of 10 and i settled for peppermint tea. to cut back the calroies as you do. plus, i wasnt about to drink that fat stuff at 10 pm.

and and and

we got the chocolate deliquesce which is sort of like a souffle but not. its a warmed chocolate cake ooooooozing with melted chooclate inside with a side of gelato

AND

the original mars bar and nutella cheesecake with whipped cream and gelato.

so yes, i couldn't breathe after that. i felt like i took years off my life. and today, i swear my clothes feel tighter =(

had to this week now. le sigh~

my day just got better and better despite all the setbacks.
work was work with christmas trading. thank goodness i didnt have to stay back eventhough DM was visiting.. i was kinda disappointed at first (time and half and all) but turned out to be a very good decision.
ppl started arriving at around 4ish.. which was also the same time it decided to start to rain.. but still, heaps of fun we had.
we played wii olympics.. LOL omg.. tat was so FUNNY.
and godbrother was here too.. and all my relos are like.. aw.. and HAHAHAHAHA funny (and not so funny) things that happened:
- justin was pinched and he has a scab now from ari
- ari fell for all of justins pranks
- ari vomited after all my uncles (i mean, my two uncles with married kids who are desperate for grandkids *hint hint*) fed him cake (ROFL ROFL)
- coz in law andrew asked if ari was "hire-able" (ROFL ROFL ROFL, the reply was "yeah, ill give u a discount, $100 per hr" andrew: "wait a minute... shouldnt YOU be paying ME?" *everyone ROFLs* HAHAHA)
- ari fell down the stairs (it was just 2 steps and was all happy 2 mins later)
- we had heaps and heaps of cake!!!
- everybody who came brought a botle of red wine (mum was like wtf? and dad was like yep, its a entry requirement)
- bottle of vintage 1992 grange was opened (the cost of the bottle of wine was in excess of $600. no joke.. and it was NICE)
- for some reason, we kept getting international phone calls from relos (these were independent events)
- we all ate too much and theres too much left over even though everyone doggy bagged
- fireworks at the oval was cancelled (boo...)
- andy was sending me stuff and my phone died on me AGAIN (I WAS AND STILL AM V PISSED OFF)
- justin made a comment 'wats wrong with all the phones u own?' (grr..)
i have to say, eventhough it wasnt a complete, every person present, kind of gathering, it was one of the most happy and satisfying ones i've had in a long long time. makes u all warm and fuzzy inside (awwww...) even took a few random pics. mostly of my cakes. my gingerbread house is still alive eventhough more than one person wanted to chop it up!! =D can't wait for the new year one =) i love my family
im all peachy yet pissed off atm.
