18 months, big changes
4/16/2013 08:54:00 pmDirector is recruiting for a new finance member to replace my boss who is leaving at the end of this month. And in a way, it has made me think about what has happened and how i've changed over the last 18 months.
18 months ago, i had my foot out the door. Today, not much has changed in that respect except that i would say half my body and my head is out the door...
18 months ago, when I met my boss, i was pretty uncaring of what he had to say and what he said he'd bring to the team. And i think my attitude towards meeting potential new colleagues at that time was pretty immature and i didn't see it as an opportunity to learn more about myself and how to connect with others. What questions to ask when meeting / interviewing someone, etc. Possibly made a judgement before I even got to know him (and this was quite heavily influenced by my 'manager' at the time who turned out to be a total cow anyway).
And whilst I feel like i no longer want to build any further relationships where i currently am, i think that it is in my best interests and for my personal self development to come into these meetings with a positive attitude and as a way of learning more about myself and of other people in this industry. It is always interesting to hear another person's story and the experiences they have had along the way.
i met 3 people in the last 2 days - all very different personalities and i definitely am able to see that there are very difference dynamics in the way people will approach certain types of situations. Further, i think i can identify the types of personalities i would be able to work with and those that i would probably struggle with. As much as i love a challenge, complete arrogance and stubborn, straight down the line process driven individuals don't do so well with me. No humour, no fun.
Whilst I am hoping for a new job as soon as possible, I also hope that what we've achieved in our team in the last 18 months will continue and that there is some sort of legacy. And i say this after one of the shittest days in the office in terms of internal struggle and divide.
Think positive!
