Hunter Valley Road Trip!!!


Fun fun fun!

we got up mightly early (ok, same as a work day..) and we all met at 3rd aunts. was going to be 4 cars but decided with three full cars instead - 15 passengers, one handicapped car (guess who's - JC) with a semi-flat tyre, thankfully no probs at all in the end!

agreement was the stop at the maccas. and i got to lead. (okay, i led most of the day ^^)

ended up being a competition for biggest ass of the day. and there were some big contenders!

Nomination #1
Myself - cut to the right lane as lead driver with about 200 m to the left turn near Pymble with a massive bus in front of me. Almost lost one of the following cars in the process. Lucky for me, justin (last car) works in the area and knew the roads. phew!

Nomination #2
Coz 'Silly' Samuel - Overtook me with 1 km to go to maccas (he had all this time to on the freeway but had to be then!!!) and missed the exit so he didn't stop until cessnock. everyone in my car and justins laughed their asses off!!!!!!

Nomination #3
My dad - we drove up some very very scenic unsealed roads to a lookout. since the weather was quite wet, the ground was quite muddy and he stepped right into this massive clay-mud puddle and got grass and mud all over his shoes. we had to open all the boots to see what emergency supplies (water, wipes, newspapers, plastic bags) we could use to help him get it off. hahahahahaha

Nomination #4
Justii - guess it was inevitable. as the last car, he would have had an itch to get to the front. despite knowing it was double points and seeing highway patrol, there was a stage where he revved it up, clocking ~140 to get to the front of the pack. tsk tsk tsk dangerous!

anyway, we had heaps of fun despite a bit of rain. the scenery was delightful. we did the touristy stuff like gelato at tt, rosemount and lindemans (home of the O!) and brokenwood. a short stop at the village to sample the liquer and chocolate shops before home and dinner at the local chinese.

have to say i think lunch was the best (not of course, because i booked it but even dad and aunty said it was really good). nice and different. pot pies, damper and great pasta. :) and perfect timing because that was when it rained the hardest! and kangaroos across the road. nice nice nice!!!

drove back via the harbour bridge and everyone came to our place for coffee (hehehe gets to use my machine again!) before heading to dinner.

thoroughly enjoyed myself, enjoyed leading and driving up. want to do it again
