Appeal for witnesses following post office armed robbery — Hurstville

Police are appealing to the public for information following an armed robbery at a post office in Hurstville this afternoon.
Shortly after 5pm three men in a silver-coloured Subaru Liberty, with stolen registration plates AC72AW, stopped outside the post office on MacMahon Street.
Witnesses have told police two men got out of the vehicle and fired shots at the glass doors, before forcing their way into the building.
The men fled the scene with a sum of cash.
Nobody was injured during the incident, however the three female staff members were treated at the scene by ambulance officers for shock.
The Subaru was found a short time later abandoned and on fire near a reserve in Tallawalla Street, Beverly Hills.
A crime scene has been established and detectives from the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad and Hurstville Local Area Command are investigating the incident.
PolAir and Dog Squad officers are carrying out searches of the area. A canvass of the neighbourhood is also being carried out.
Inquiries suggest the incident is linked with an armed robbery of a bank at Smithfield earlier this afternoon.
Detectives are urging anyone who may have seen the Subaru Liberty or its occupants to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
