Tenant. Problems. Paramedics. Police. Roof. Damaged property. Ongoing Saga. #Time to kick them out.
And here I was all ready and settled and winding down my weekend.
Let's start from the beginning.
Saturdays have turned into a bit of a baking day recently. This time in was mini cupcakes and ANZACS (just a whole month late...). More so for enjoyment than anything else.
Made ANZACs with dried pawpaw and white chooclate this time. They were really good. Golden. Crunchy on the outside and chewy inside. Nomnomnom. And pleased to say that Carmen and Justin helped this time... i only had to supervise! Great team effort I think. So I as usual, let them take away. HAHAH.
Saturday evening was supposed to be a catch up in the shire with amanda. but hey as expected, a cancellation. So went to burwood to hang with janice for a bit. Finally watched Iron Man 3 and tried out the new pho place on burwood road. We haven't done this in a while and it was good to just... be. Nothing too deep and nothing too argumentative. ;) I've missed that. And Star Trek was better for the record.
I spent the day with Mandy exploring the rocks and having devonshire tea. It was really good and relaxing and laidback. Went through the rocks markets, made our way to pitt st mall for a little bit of shopping and then headed to market city as well. I bought a new Oroton Umbrella. Because everyone said it was a good idea to do so.
Feet were a little weary by the end of the day but something we should do more often.
So I guess to sum my weekend, it was a weekend of catching up with those that I don't see as often anymore. Sometimes, life just gets in the way.
Came home to find that my sister had taken over my room. Grr... so went to play with maxxie and nessie. it was hilarious. Dad was fixing one of the doors and maxxie kept coming inside. And nessie was too good so she stayed outside but got jealous when he came in. So kept having to carry him back outside and he kept coming in. then they played pretty rough on the grass. a little scary to watch but at least my puppies don't eat live chickens!!
Anyways, I am sure I will find out more information tomorrow. But in a nutshell... one of my tenants, crazy idiot, tried to get around/climb/scale the gated-fence on the rooftop to get to the off-limits area. Why? Don't ask me. No idea. And he fell or somehow managed to get himself unconscious. Police and paramedics called. Gate had to be dismantled. Paramedic paraphernalia left everywhere... what the hell goes on on the weekends? Extremely annoyed. . . . . .

donna and i planned to meet in surry hills at 10 originally i think. she slept in and my cake wasn't picked up till 10 so we both ended up meeting original time which was "10:30 to 11". should have known that was going to be the case!
Both of us ended up parking a block away and arriving at pretty much the same time.
so glad we did and we got a spot at Gnome Cafe pretty much straight away which was awesome. the heater was on and they even had little wool blanket things for you to rug up with. very country & rustic.
i got the smoked trout and she got the eggs benedict. then we decided to be pigs and also get the banana bread with cinnamon butter and lemon mascapone. i am supposed to be on a new diet... (so far, this entails skipping meals - I KNOW I KNOW - WRONG METHOD - i am getting this part of my life sorted!!!). coffee was good but it wasn't hot enough. and i should've gotten a mug.
food was good i think - not like Wowsers, great but acceptable. better because we didn't have to wait.
anyways, a little disappointed - but not majorly - and not that surprised - that our dear valerie didn't show her presence on her whirlwind trip back home. Understand that mumsies and pops are a lot lot lot more important. and rightly so! we get to catch up in October anyway.
had a pretty productive afternoon with job apps. YAY. fingers crossed...
only thing is i wish the weekend was longer... not looking forward to work this week.
went for a 5k run yesterday and thighs are feeling it now. think i am going to pick this up again. as well as daily gym trips. hummmmmmmm.... should never have stopped. just because it is getting cooler is not an excuse to snuggle in bed.
two cakes this week which was good for me. was telling donna how i would like business to pick up but not in the way that it takes up every weekend. rather, i'd like the volume of orders to increase or to have 2 or 3 orders on the same weekend so i can take advantage of economics of scale. that would be ideal as its not very profitable to whip up a dozen cupcakes for example... yes, traversing into the finance/accounting mind here...
also saw the energy meter/bill for the december quarter. and yes, there was a noticeable increase in the bill. directly attributable to the christmas baking!!! tax time's coming up...

the first three days of this week went by like the blink of an eye.
today, i struggled somewhat. like running out of steam. a lot of loose fiddly bits of work and then could not find the motivation to start new assignments.
everything seemed like a bit of a drag today.
decorated my first cake for this weekend.
Going for number 2 and 3 tomorrow!
Busy times for the baking business :)
Today is Mother's day and i daresay that mama cheung is very happy with her brand spanking new dishwasher. it cost a small fortune... but sis and i chipped in and it was also a combined birthday present for her so worth it. plus i get some of it back in tax so double worth it.
we had dinner last night with the extended family. the restaurant must've been really busy because even though it was just chinese cuisine, the dishes took their time coming out! we ended up being there for 3 hours. and food quality was not as good as the last time we went. but still good to see everyone of course!
chloe made little cards for all the mums which was the cutest thing ever. brian was a brat as usual... and justin was a no show because they were double booked. oh wells.
i spent my afternoon making fondant, rolling fondant and shaping fondant. haven't done it in a while and forget how time consuming and fiddly these things can be.
got 2 cakes coming up and a catering order to round out my may - what was supposed to be a quiet May turns out to be pretty busy!
workwise, i survived week 1. each day got slightly better and by thursday and friday, i think that anxious feeling was definitely subsiding. monday was horrible!!! it helps when the admin team don't disturb me. and when i get to do my own thing. and when people randomly text to check up on me! seriously make it a lot more bearable. even PR came by during the week one morning to see if i was doing okay. haha okay, so it was because i was giving her macarons but she was like how are you going, how is the job hunt, are the twits driving you crazy yet? AND MAKE SURE YOU DON'T LEAVE WORK TOO LATE!!!
Going going! Need to work on a couple of things but yes, that place is poison.
Luxury of time my ass...

It's not really a new chapter, just a break in between.
Spago tonight. Nomnomnom.
For mum's birthday, aunt's birthday(s), carmen's birthday and wendie's birthday. and thank yous and welcome homes.
Go our entertainment books and vouchers. Turned out to be really good value. And food was pretty good as always. I was a bit skeptial when it first opened up 2 years ago but i have since been duly impressed by their food standard and service. Albeit, corkage at $4 per person meant that it was more than our bottle of wine itself which was a little hard to swallow. However, you will not get this quality food for these prices anywhere in the city so props to them on making this a successful establishment in south sydney.
Also made macarons (as some of you might already have seen). And there are a few things that I would need to change about my macarons. Namely, making sure my salted caramel is more caramel and less runny. And number two, getting a finer texture in my almond meal. Have not been too happy with the shine and rise of the shells lately.
Took mum dishwasher shopping this arvo. And well, i did not expect them to be that expensive! They're like from $700... i thought they were like half that price! Online shopping here i come...
And maxxie has officially doubled in weight in the 4 weeks he has been home. And still edging on the underweight side?? He is a ball of fluff.
